In March we wrote about Cree breaking the $10 barrier in an A19 LED bulb. Now several other manufacturers are following suite.

The Philips BR30 LED bulb is ideal for recessed can lights and track lighting. As we discussed in our light bulb shape educational post, BR stands for Bulged Reflector and 30 represents the diameter of the bulb (30/8 inches). This bulb is dimmable.

The key to picking the best light bulb is to ensure it meets your needs for lumen output (the amount of light it produces), aesthetics (how it looks), and color temperature (color of light).
